Swiss Cottage Open Space: Round 3 Community Engagement Report and Short Film

Hi Everyone,

Swiss Cottage Open Space Improvements Update:

The Round 3 Community Engagement period closed on the Friday 11 November 2022. During this 5 week engagement period, 2x in-person events were held at the Open space where consultants LUC and Council officers were on hand to share and discuss the latest concept design ideas for the new Swiss Cottage open space. A summary report capturing all of the feedback received is available to view below and via the Swiss Cottage open Space commonplace website.

>> Round 3 Community Engagement Report

As part of the Round 3 engagement the Council commissioned this short film, made with local young people and supported by the Winch, which captures the in-person engagement event and some of the views of local young people about the improvement project.

You can view this exciting film using the link below.

Next Steps

We will now develop the designs presented to respond to comment received from the local community. We will be considering feedback from nearby residents, community groups and adjoining organisations as well as ensuring the design considers management and maintenance requirements. This will help ensure the improvements meet a range of local needs and are sustainable/manageable to the Council's management teams.

Will share our developing ideas with you as part of the Round 4 community engagement/presentation which is expected to take place in Summer 2023. We will now review the findings from this round of engagement and develop the design proposals further.

You can find out more about the project including the next steps via the Swiss Cottage open Space commonplace website.

Thank you to everyone that took the time to provide comments on the proposals.

Hi Everyone,

After an extended break from the Swiss Cottage Open Space Improvement project, we are back with some exciting new proposals for you to see and give us your feedback on.

The project was put on hold in May 2021 while we carefully considered the feedback from Round 2 Community Engagement.

Based on the information received from Round 2 and workshops with Camden’s Grounds maintenance and Operational teams, we are seeking your feedback on the following proposals.

Below is a link to the new designs as well as on online survey that you can use to give your feedback.

Project Update November 2021

Hello Swiss Cottage Community,

Below is an update on the Swiss Cottage Open Space design project.

Unfortunately, progress on the project has been delayed since we put the project on hold back in May 2021. The project was put on hold while the Council reviewed and considered the different community views on matters such as skating, management and maintenance. These conflicting matters were presented at the Community Services Senior Management Team (SMT) meeting in September 2021. The aim of the meeting was to ensure that the emerging designs responded to local need and could be adequately maintained by the Council.

I am happy to announce that the project is back up and running and our design consultants LUC are once again looking at proposals to enhance this much loved green space. We will now enter an extended conceptual design stage where our design team Land Use Consultants (LUC) will consider the information received from the Round 2 community engagement (which you all fed into earlier this year ) as well as the outcomes of the SMT meeting.

Two extended conceptual design proposals are being worked up with our designers and will be shared with the local community for feedback in January 2022 via commonplace.

Until then, we wish you a joyous festive period and hope to hear from you again in the new year when we invite you to feedback on the two options. Best Wishes,

Updated Project Programme:

May 2021: Project placed on HOLD

November 2021: Project re-starts with Extended Concept Design work

May 2022: Community Engagement Round 3 - Extended Conceptual Design goes out for community feedback

June 2022: Extended Conceptual Design community feedback review

June 2022: Detailed Design work begins

August 2022: Community Engagement Round 4 - Detailed Design presentation

September - January 2023: Technical Design / Contractor Procurement / Planning Update (tbc)

Early 2023: Works Commence on site

Swiss Cottage Open Space: Round 2 Community Engagement Summary Update

Hi Everyone,

Update

The Round 2 Community Engagement period closed on the 15 February 2021. This period also included an additional survey targeted at young people from Swiss Cottage. A summary of the both sets of survey data can be found below and via the Swiss Cottage open Space commonplace website.

>> Round 2 Community Engagement Report

>> Round 2 Young People Engagement Report

Next Steps

We will now begin to explore detailed design options for the open space that respond to the comments received from the local community about the design principles and initial design options. We will also be considering feedback from nearby residents, community groups and adjoining organisations. We will be exploring areas where there were differing views further (such as skate provision) as well as ensuring the design considers the management and maintenance of the space. This will help ensure the improvements meet a range of local needs and are sustainable.

Will share our developing ideas with you as part of the Round 3 community engagement which is expected to take place in Summer 2021. We will now review the findings from this round of engagement and develop the design proposals further.

You can find out more about the project including the next steps via the Swiss Cottage open Space commonplace website.

Thank you to everyone that took the time to provide comments.
